Pioneering the Next Era of Nanotechnology


Mission: To pioneer cross-frequency electromagnetic wave manipulation by unifying transformation optics, sub-wavelength metasurfaces, and nanoscopic plasmonic antennas. By bridging multiscale physics-from microwave engineering to optical nanophotonics-the Center for Nanotechnology (CNT) aims to advance fundamental computational modeling, co-develop translational sensing and energy transduction technologies, and foster international academic partnerships through joint research and graduate co-supervision.  

At the Center for Nanotechnology (CNT) at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), we are driving transformative research at the intersection of physics, chemistry, materials science, and engineering. Our mission is to establish a world-class interdisciplinary platform dedicated to nanoscale electromagnetic engineering-advancing plasmonic nanoantennas, nanophotonics, and sub-wavelength metasurfaces across optical to THz regimes.

Through cutting-edge computational modeling and experimental innovation, our work bridges fundamental science with translational technology. Primarily we focus on three core pillars:

Nanoantenna & Metasurfaces: Engineering sub-wavelength structures that achieve extreme near-field light enhancement for ultra-sensitive molecular detection and manipulation.

THz & Optical Energy Harvesting: Developing high-efficiency rectennas and ultra-fast MIM tunneling diodes to capture and convert optical and thermal radiation into usable clean electrical power.

Optical IoT & Bio-Optoelectronic Sensing: Creating battery-free, wearable, and implantable bio-sensors for continuous, non-invasive health monitoring and wireless data transmission.

By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and international academic partnerships, the Center for Nanotechnology (CNT) is committed to training the next generation of researchers and delivering impactful solutions for sensing, energy harvesting, and next-generation communications.
