The seminar on Advancement of Nanotechnology was successfully organized by the Center for Nanotechnology (CN) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in the VC Seminar Room on April 8, 2026. The seminar featured presentations by four invited speakers: two from other universities, including Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam from BUET and Dr. Muhammad Mahbub Rabbani from AIUB, and two from AUST, namely Dr. Md. Aminul Islam (Member Secretary of Center for Nanotechnology) and Mr. Chowdhury Ahmed Shahed (Executive Member of Center for Nanotechnology), followed by an open discussion.

The seminar provided a platform for sharing and disseminating cutting-edge research on the latest advancements in nanotechnology applications. The event brought together leading academicians, researchers, faculty members, and students to discuss breakthroughs in manipulating matter at the nanoscale. Moreover, it aimed to foster interdisciplinary research and create multidisciplinary projects by connecting academic researchers with industry professionals. The objective was also to highlight modern research trends, global industry practices, and local sustainability solutions utilizing nanomaterials.

The session began with an overview of the Center for Nanotechnology (CN) by the director, Prof. Dr. Md. Meganur Rahaman, describing its role as a multidisciplinary research hub. The opening remarks highlighted how the university is scaling up fabrication facilities and academic infrastructure to drive target-based national projects.

A central highlight of the seminar was an invited talk on crucial eco-friendly industrial innovation. The core topic was the superior removal of textile dyes from wastewater using sustainable biomass–metal oxide nanocomposites. Industrial waste remains a threat to Bangladesh’s ecosystems, and presenters demonstrated how low-cost, bio-based nano-adsorbents efficiently trap organic dyes and other harsh contaminants. This provides the textile industry with an economical, scalable path toward safe water treatment.

The seminar then shifted to electronic infrastructure and clean power. Speakers detailed ongoing research into next-generation systems, emphasizing performance analysis of thin-film transistors and Carbon Nanotube Field-Effect Transistor (CNTFET) structures, as well as leveraging the large surface-to-volume ratio of titanium dioxide nanoparticles to boost efficiency in dye-sensitized solar cells.

The seminar highlighted multidisciplinary breakthroughs in medical tracking. Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque, Vice-Chancellor, AUST, special guest Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) and Treasurer, and guest speakers shared insights into nanoparticle-based targeted drug delivery simulations. Their discussion included the use of specialized nanostructured biomaterials to manage chronic diseases such as cardiovascular ailments.

The presentation concluded with an interactive Q & A session in which students and faculty exchanged ideas on ethical nanoscale fabrication. The Center for Nanotechnology reiterated its vision to build active partnerships with domestic industries. These collaborations aim to expand practical laboratory training and help transform students’ conceptual innovations into commercial reality.
