Workshop on "An Introduction to Photogrammetry: Image Based 3D Reconstruction & Online Sharing"

A workshop on "An Introduction to Photogrammetry: Image Based 3D Reconstruction & Online Sharing" was held on 13th November, 2017 at Computer Lab (Room 5C01), Department of Architecture, AUST. The workshop is instructed by Dr Hafizur Rahaman, UNESCO Research Fellow at the school of Media Culture and Creative Arts, Curtin University and Ar Rana Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, AUST. Dr Jasmin Ara Begum, Head, Department of Architecture had opened the session. Beside the 20 students of Architecture, AUST, seven of the faculty members also participated the workshop sessions.

In this workshop, the participants learnt how to photograph objects systematically and the steps to process these photos into a 3D model with free/open source software (Regards3D). They also learnt how to texture and edit the 3D model (Meshlab) and share the model using online web-platforms (Sketchfab). This workshop therefore provided novice users with hands-on; expert introduction to photogrammetry based 3D reconstruction.
