'Pitha Utshab- 1420' observed at AUST


'School of Business' of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) organized a festival named "Pitha Utshab- 1420" on 01 February, 2014 at its  permanent campus at Tejgaon in Dhaka. It was organized with a view to upholding the heritage of Bengali culture.

The festival was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam, Treasurer & Dean, School of Business, AUST as the chief guest while Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahim Mollah, Dean and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mr. M. Abul Hussain, Advisor of Students Welfare, Mr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Librarian, Mr. Md. Lutfor Rahman, Secretary, AUST Board of Trustees, Mr. Md. Abdud Daiyan, University Engineer and faculty members of School of Business were present as guest of honor.

The aim of this festival is to inspire the young generation not to forget our traditional foodstuff. Students and teachers of different department of the university attended the Pitha Utshab at Playground at AUST. 

Altogether 15 stalls with around 50 varieties of traditional winter cakes, these are usually made in winter season across the country, were set up at the festival. The festival started in the noon and continued till 5.30 pm. To celebrate the festival, the whole ground was adorned with different adorable flowers, colorful paintings and festoons. Three stalls were awarded for their creativity in making winter cakes as well as for their stall decoration. 

Apart from the most common ones like Teler Pitha, Koli Pitha, Nakshi Pitha, bhapa, patishapta, Dud chitoi, Vaja Puli, Malpoa, Chitoi Shotki, Shondesh, Shirpuli, Sora, Zinok, and pakon, several unfamiliar pitha like Alosa, chandrapuli, mohonbhog, sareng, shaj pitha, shundori pakon, roshbora, golap, Tejpata, bibikhana and many more were on display.
