A blood donation camp was held on 3rd August, 2023 at TT Ground of AUST Campus from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. AUST Blood Donation Club (AUSTBDC) and Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation jointly organized this programme to assist the children suffering from thalassemia.

Thalassemia is a hereditary blood disorder that causes severe anemia in children. About 7% population of our country are thalassemia carrier. In Bangladesh, thalassemia is a highly prevalent disease.

Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation is an organization dedicated to thalassemia prevention and treatment. To address the shortage of knowledge and treatment facilities, the foundation was founded in 2002 by a group of thalassemia sufferers focusing on thalassemia prevention and treatment.

The camp was inaugurated by Advisor, Students Welfare Prof. Dr. Md. Meganur Rhaman and Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Khaled Hasan. On this day, the Thalassemia Foundation provided free test for five diseases to AUST students who donated blood. The tests are Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, Syphilis and Malaria.

On this day, AUST students donated 89 bags of blood. Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation provided necessary logistic supports for this camp.
