Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) signed an MoU with the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) on May 23rd, 2024, at the premises of BCSIR. Honorable Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) of AUST, Prof. Dr Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman, and Chairman of BCSIR, Prof. Dr Md. Aftab Ali Shaikh, were present at the MoU signing ceremony. In addition, Treasurer (In-charge) of AUST Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, Dean of Engineering Faculties Prof. Dr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Head (In-charge) of MPE Prof. Dr. A N Mustafizul Karim, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hamidur Rahman Khan of Arts & Science Department, Prof. Dr. Dewan Hassan Ahmed and Associate Prof. Dr. Fazlar Rahman of MPE department were present in the signing ceremony. Member (Admin) Md. Delwar Hossen, Member (Science and Technology) Dr. Md. Nazim Zaman, Member (Finance), Members (Development), Senior Scientists, and Research Coordinator Dr. Ahedul Akbor of BCSIR were present at the signing ceremony.
Honorable Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) of AUST disclosed the skills and strengths of AUST faculty members, research goals, and research activities of AUST through his speech. He mentioned that AUST delivers quality education to students, and it is the first chartered private university in Bangladesh. By signing the MoU, AUST students and faculty will benefit from sharing scientific ideas and views with BCSIR scientists and lab resources. BCSIR has a good number of skilled scientists and lab resources. It is a unique public organization in Bangladesh promoting research among students and faculties of different universities in Bangladesh. MoU will open broad scopes for AUST students and faculty members for research collaboration with the scientists of BCISR; the honorable Vice-chancellor mentioned in the meeting.
The Chairman of BCSIR, Prof. Dr Md. Aftab Ali Shaikh mentioned that AUST is a unique private university in Bangladesh and became the first private university to sign an MoU with BCSIR, facilitated by the strength and skills of its highly qualified faculty members, as well as the fame goodwill of AUST. BCSIR will extend its hands to cooperate with the research activities of AUST faculty and students. He introduced the members and senior scientists of BCSIR present at the signing ceremony to the honorable vice-chancellor and AUST faculties and discussed various research activities of BCSIR. BCSIR is committed to promoting research activities in Bangladesh to achieve a smart Bangladesh by 2041 as per the vision of the honorable prime minister, he mentioned in the speech.
Both organizations agreed to use the facilities of existing sophisticated lab resources to acquire excellence and outstanding results in the emerging research fields by resource personnel, scientists, and students for implementing this collaboration. Besides, the MoU between AUST and BCSIR will open the following scopes for AUST students and faculty:
