Importance of Business Ethics: Perspective Bangladesh


The School of Business, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), and Ethics Education for Sustainable Development (E2SD) collaborated to host a seminar named "Importance of Business Ethics: Perspective Bangladesh". This seminar was held on June 11, 2023, in the AUST VC seminar hall. Mr. Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Hon’ble Chairman, AUST Board of Trustees and President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, AUST; Prof. Dr. Abu Tweb Abu Ahmed, Vice-Chairman, AUST Board of Trustees and Vice-President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission; Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor, AUST; Mr. Khabeer Uddin Khan, Chairman, SWAN Group; Mr. Mohammed Lakiotullah, Vice –Chairman, Hajj Finance Co. Ltd.; Prof. Dr. Melita Mehjabeen, IBA, University of Dhaka; Dr. Jahangir Sultan, Gibbons Prof. of Finance, Bentley University, USA; Mr. TIM Nurnnabi Khan, Expert on ILO Labor Standard; Kazi Ali Reza, CEO, E2SD; Prof. Dr. Saleh Md. Mashehdul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business and Social Sciences; Prof. Dr. S.M. Shafiul Alam, Head, School of Business (SoB) and the heads of other departments and other faculty members of SoB as well as the students of SoB attended the event.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi started the seminar with his inaugural speech. Mr. TIM Nurnnabi Khan presented on the subject of "Social Business Practices" from the viewpoint of the ILO Labor Standard.  Dr. Jahangir Sultan presented his address on "Ethics in Securities Trading in Emerging Markets" online. Prof. Dr. Melita Mehjabeen delivered the keynote address, while Mr. Khabeer Uddin Khan served as the special guest. The presidential speech from Mr. Kazi Rafiqul Alam was delivered by Prof. Dr. Abu Tweb Abu Ahmed due to some physical illness issues. Kazi Ali Reza moderated the entire session with enthusiasm.

This seminar mainly focused on creating business students committed to taking on the challenges of reserving social, moral, and ethical degradations and educating them to be tolerant, peaceful, and non-violent. In the end, Prof. Dr. Saleh Md. Mashehdul Islam concluded the session by expressing his gratitude to all who were involved in organizing the session.
