Department of Textile Engineering, AUST organized a seminar on “Sustainability in Textile” and “Product Sustainability and Traceability” which was held on February 12, 2023 at MH Khan Multipurpose Hall, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) for the students of the second-year second semester to the fourth-year second semester of the Textile Engineering Department to motivate the future leaders about sustainability of the textile industry and to increase the collaboration between the university and industry as well.

The Industry experts talked about various sustainable practices in the textile industry

The Vice-Chancellor of AUST, Professor Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi was present as the chief guest and the session was chaired by the Head of the Textile Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Lal Mohan Baral. The industry experts for this seminar were Mr.Syful Alam Mallick, Compliance Manager, one of the renowned textile multinational company and Mr. Romman Shah, Product Sustainability Responsible, Inditex, Zara Man who addressed the topics on “Sustainability in Textile” and “Product Sustainability and Traceability,” respectively. The Vice-Chancellor of AUST, Professor Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi mentioned that in this industrial 4.0 era, no industry or company will sustain in the long run without adopting sustainability practices. So, it is very important for the future leaders to acquire knowledge about sustainability to transform the world by achieving the sustainable development goals. He hoped that every student would find this seminar useful in their careers.

Professor Dr. Lal Mohan Baral, who presided over the seminar, praised the experts for giving their motivational speech and valuable time from a hectic schedule. He intended to focus more on how AUST's students may share their practical expertise and knowledge to have a bigger impact on Bangladesh's textile sector. About 450 students and faculty members thoroughly attended the lively and interactive session made by the industry experts.
