A Professional Talk on CE 2200: Details of Construction and CE 2202: Quantity Surveying organized by Department of Civil Engineering was held on Tuesday, September 08, 2026 at Room no. 2A06, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST).

Sub Divisional Engineer (Civil), PWD Design Division-03, Md. Rubaiat Hossain was the keynote speaker. Honorable faculty members and students of 2^nd year 2^nd semester of the Department of Civil Engineering were present at the talk.

The Keynote Speaker, Mr. Md. Rubaiat Hossain is a highly accomplished Structural Engineer and his most notable projects as a structural designer includes 12 storied Health Management Academic Building with 2 basement at Savar, 12 storied National Institute of Neuro Science Hospital with 3 basement at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, 11 storied District Hospital Building with 1 basement at Laxmipur, 11 storied District Hospital Building with 1 basement at Noakhali, 11 storied District Hospital Building with 1 basement at Gaibandha/ Joypurhat/ Narshingdi/ Rajbari/ Panchagarh/ Khulna/ Shariatpur/ Netrokona/ Meherpur, 10 storied Hospital Building with 1 basement at Sunamganj Medical College, 10 storied Academic Building at Gazipur Medical College, 10 Storied Hospital Building at Patuakhali etc.

Mr. Md. Rubaiat Hossain, who has over 5 years of experience in PWD design division, began his talk by discussing the layout works, foundation works, types of foundations emphasizing the design detailing of reinforcements before construction work. He discussed the various techniques and methods used in the field, such as wash boring, cement grouting and building implementation works. He also discussed about the construction process of isolated footing, combined footing, mat foundation, cast in situ pile foundation, precast pile foundation, beam-column joint, grade beam, super-structure wall, formwork and slab construction. He also emphasized about the safety of labors during construction works. Mr. Hossain accentuated the importance of co-operation between engineers and labors.  

After that Mr. Hossain discussed about schedule and rates, analysis of rates, BOQ preparation and estimating software.

Overall, Mr. Hossain’s talk provided valuable insights into the overall process of building construction including its design detailing and BOQ. The lecture was informative and enlightening and provided valuable insights into the construction methods in Bangladesh, and his experience of the topic was highly appreciated by the audience.

Finally, the students of 2^nd year 2^nd semester of the Department of Civil Engineering, AUST participated in the question answer round.
