AUST School of Business and ICMAB Strengthen Industry–Academia Collaboration through MoU Signing and Professional CMA Seminar


Part 1: MoU Signing Ceremony

A significant milestone was achieved on 6 July 2026 with the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and the School of Business, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). The ceremony was held at the VC Seminar Room at AUST, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to strengthen academic and professional development through cooperation, knowledge exchange, and enhanced learning initiatives.

Signing moment of the Memorandum of Understanding

The ceremony was graced by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of AUST, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashraful Haque, as the Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor and Treasurer of AUST, attended as the Special Guest. The program was hosted by Sabreya Khanom Zuma, Assistant Professor, School of Business, AUST. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. S. M. Shafiul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Business and Social Sciences and Acting Registrar, AUST. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Professor Dr. Parul Akhter, Head, School of Business, AUST.

A distinguished delegation from ICMAB attended the event, including Mr. Zahir Uddin Haider, FCMA, Vice President; Mr. Monjur Md. Shaiful Azam, FCMA, Secretary; Professor Dr. Md. Musfiqur Rahman, FCMA, Treasurer; Professor Dr. Md. Mamunur Rashid, FCMA, Director, Academic Affairs Division; and Mr. Md. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director, Academic Affairs Division.

The MoU reflects a shared commitment between ICMAB and AUST to promote academic excellence, strengthen industry–academia collaboration, and create greater opportunities for students through professional development, experiential learning, and knowledge exchange. This partnership is expected to contribute significantly to preparing future business leaders and professionals with the skills and competencies required in an evolving global landscape.

Part 2: Seminar on Professional CMA Qualification

Following the MoU Signing Ceremony, the School of Business, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), in collaboration with the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), organized an informative seminar on "Professional CMA Qualification" at the VC Seminar Room, AUST on 6 July 2026. The seminar aimed to introduce students to the globally recognized Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) qualification and create awareness about the diverse career opportunities available in the fields of management accounting, finance, business leadership, and corporate governance. The seminar was conducted by a distinguished panel of resource persons from ICMAB, including Mr. Zahir Uddin Haider, FCMA, Vice President; Mr. Monjur Md. Shaiful Azam, FCMA, Secretary; Professor Dr. Md. Musfiqur Rahman, FCMA, Treasurer; Professor Dr. Md. Mamunur Rashid, FCMA, Director, Academic Affairs Division; and Mr. Md. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director, Academic Affairs Division.

During the session, the speakers highlighted the structure of the CMA qualification, admission requirements, curriculum, examination process, scholarship opportunities, and the growing demand for CMA professionals in both national and international job markets. They also emphasized the importance of professional ethics, strategic decision-making, leadership, and analytical skills in building successful careers in accounting and business management.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of the School of Business. An interactive question-and-answer session provided attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers, seek guidance on pursuing the CMA qualification, and gain valuable insights into career planning and professional development. The session inspired students to explore professional qualifications alongside their academic studies and reinforced the shared commitment of AUST and ICMAB to nurturing competent, industry-ready graduates equipped to meet the evolving demands of the global business environment.
