The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), organized an online workshop titled “Global Career Workshop on Roadmap & Engineering Opportunities in Japan” on Saturday, 20 June 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM via the Zoom platform. Organized by the Seminar Committee of the CSE Department, the workshop aimed to support students' academic and professional development by providing valuable insights into building a successful engineering career in Japan.
The session was conducted by Mr. Sarwar Saif, an alumnus of the Department of CSE, AUST, and Senior Director, CI/CD Platform Automation at Rakuten Symphony, Inc., Japan. Drawing from his own journey from AUST to a leadership position in one of Japan's leading technology companies, Mr. Saif shared practical guidance on developing a global engineering career.
During the workshop, Mr. Saif discussed the current landscape of the Japanese technology industry and outlined the roadmap for securing engineering opportunities in Japan. He explained how students can prepare themselves to become globally competitive engineers by developing strong technical skills, building meaningful projects, and continuously improving their problem-solving abilities. The session also covered important aspects of working and living in Japan, including visa procedures, language preparation, workplace culture, relocation, and career growth opportunities.
The speaker also reflected on his own professional journey—from his undergraduate years at AUST, entrepreneurship in Bangladesh, and his transition to Japan as a Data Scientist, to his current role leading CI/CD Platform Automation at Rakuten Symphony. He further shared his experience in managing global engineering teams, implementing AI-driven automation, Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure, and modern DevOps practices to improve software delivery efficiency at scale.
The workshop concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, during which students actively interacted with the speaker regarding career preparation, higher studies, technical skill development, and opportunities in Japan. During the discussion, Associate Professor Md. Moinul Hoque Sir raised an interesting question regarding the current position of Computer Science graduates in Japan and whether graduates from other engineering disciplines had surpassed CSE graduates in terms of opportunities and industry demand. Mr. Saif shared his perspectives on the evolving job market, interdisciplinary opportunities, and the continued strong demand for skilled software engineers.
Head of the CSE department, Prof. Dr. S.M.A. Al-Mamun was present in the session. At the end of the session, Associate Professor Md. Moinul Hoque delivered the vote of thanks, expressing his sincere appreciation to Mr. Sarwar Saif for sharing his valuable experiences and practical guidance with the participants. The Department of CSE expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Sarwar Saif for sharing his professional experiences and practical insights with the students. The workshop served as an inspiring platform for aspiring engineers, reinforcing the department's commitment to preparing students for successful careers in the global technology industry.
