OBE Implementation Committee Organizes Day-Long Interactive Workshop to Address Curriculum Gaps

“Curriculum Reloaded: Closing the Gaps” brings faculty members together for collaborative review and improvement of the OBE curriculum at AUST

The OBE Implementation Committee of the Department of Architecture, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), successfully organized a day-long interactive workshop titled “Curriculum Reloaded: Closing the Gaps: A Day-Long Workshop on Identified Gaps in the New (OBE) Curriculum” on 14 October 2026. Held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in Room C402 of the Department of Architecture, the workshop provided a collaborative platform for reviewing the implementation of the Revised (OBE) curriculum, identifying existing challenges, and developing potential solutions through active faculty engagement.

The workshop was organized as part of the Department's ongoing efforts to strengthen the implementation of the Revised (OBE) curriculum and address issues arising from its practical application. Drawing on feedback collected from course teachers, the program focused on specific challenges encountered in curriculum delivery and implementation. The initiative emphasized the importance of incorporating faculty experiences and observations into the academic review process, ensuring that discussions about curriculum improvement were informed by the practical experiences of those directly involved in teaching and learning.

The program began with an introductory session on the curriculum, followed by a review of its implementation and discussion of challenges identified through faculty feedback, establishing a common ground for reflection and fostering an open environment for sharing ideas. A key component was the formation of four faculty working groups, each addressing a specific issue from teachers' feedback; guided by a professor and coordinated by a senior faculty member, the groups engaged in structured brainstorming and collaborative problem-solving, drawing on teaching experiences to explore solutions. The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of faculty members, with its interactive format encouraging active discussion and the exchange of perspectives across different teaching responsibilities, fostering collective reflection and shared responsibility for curriculum improvement. The participation of the Head of the Department and the Dean further underscored the Department's commitment to strengthening academic quality through collaborative engagement.

Following the morning discussions, the working groups consolidated their findings and prepared presentations, with each group subsequently sharing its outcomes and proposed recommendations. This allowed participants to consider the identified issues from multiple perspectives, compare approaches, and collectively reflect on possible ways forward, highlighting the value of examining curriculum-related challenges through the combined knowledge and experience of the faculty. The workshop concluded with these group presentations and closing remarks. The successful completion of the day-long program reflected faculty members' willingness to engage constructively with OBE implementation challenges and contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum, establishing a productive platform for discussing gaps and exploring potential improvements.

The initiative represents an important step towards fostering a more reflective, participatory, and evidence-informed approach to OBE implementation in the Department of Architecture, AUST. It also reinforces the significance of sustained faculty engagement in reviewing curriculum practices, addressing implementation challenges, and ensuring that the educational framework continues to evolve in response to the needs and experiences of teachers and learners.
