Ar. Imran Ebne Amin, faculty member of the Department of Architecture, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), participated as a Resource Person in the RISK-E-SCAPE Simulation Drill and Tabletop Exercise on Flood Community Risk Assessment in Bangladesh, held on 22 August 2026 at the University of Dhaka.
Organized by the Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka, under the EU-funded RISK-E-SCAPE Project, the programme brought together students and professionals from multiple sectors to strengthen disaster preparedness and climate resilience in Bangladesh.
As a Resource Person, Ar. Imran Ebne Amin delivered a lecture on the role and responsibilities of architects and architecture before, during, and after hazards. He highlighted the importance of risk-sensitive planning, resilient building design, emergency access and evacuation, and community-oriented approaches to disaster resilience.
The multidisciplinary programme included representatives from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, NGOs, medical professionals, Bangladesh Betar, academics, and disaster-response sectors. The exercise featured hazard mapping, vulnerability analysis, flood-risk simulation, infrastructure and communication failure scenarios, health emergencies, and practical demonstrations by Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The programme provided a valuable platform for multidisciplinary knowledge exchange and emphasized the importance of collaboration among architecture, disaster management, health, policy, and community stakeholders in building safer and more resilient communities in Bangladesh.
