Study and Recreation Tour to Zinda Park

The Design Studio I, Department of Architecture, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) organized a day-long Study and Recreation Tour to Zinda Park, Daudpur, Narayanganj, for the students of First Year, First Semester on 29 August 2026.

The students were accompanied throughout the tour by their Design Studio teachers, Dr. Abontika Sara Israt, Ar. Farhan E Shafrin, Ar. Nusrat Wahid and Ar. Maisha Durdana Mogna, who planned and coordinated the activities of the day.

It was a particularly hot day, but the scorching weather did little to dampen the students’ enthusiasm. Away from the usual studio setting, they spent the day taking part in a series of team-building activities arranged by their teachers, sharing ideas, working together, and simply enjoying the opportunity to connect with one another in a different environment.

The visit also became an extension of their classroom learning. Students explored the park with cameras and sketchbooks in hand, observing its landscape, architecture, spaces, textures, and details. They took photographs to develop sketches and collages and that would later contribute to their classwork and studio activities. This gave them a chance to practice observation and visual documentation in a relaxed, real-world setting.

After lunch, the students brought another burst of energy to the tour with a lively cultural programme of their own. The group then spent the afternoon walking around Zinda Park, exploring its landscaped grounds, library, and other spaces before gathering for the return journey.

By the end of the day, the group returned safely to AUST, tired from the heat but carrying plenty of photographs, sketches, shared experiences, and good memories. More than just a day away from the classroom, the tour offered the first-year students a valuable opportunity to observe, create, collaborate, and get to know one another beyond the studio walls.
