AUST BBA Students
at Shinepukur Ceramics Ltd. |

A group
of 26 BBA students visited Shinepukur Ceramics Ltd. (a BEXIMCO
Company), Beximco Industrial Park, Kashimpur, Gazipur on 26 November,
2007. Shinepukur is one of the largest ceramic plants in Bangladesh.
The students were taken on a guided tour of the ceramic industry.

They
were allowed to have a look into the various aspects of the process of
ceramic production – from gathering the raw materials till the point
of packaging. This was done by dividing into two groups of 13 each
with one business faculty. Each group was accompanied by an official
from the company who explained each and every stage of the process
involved. Students were given an in-depth understanding of the
functioning of the manufacturing plant, and the assembly line.

The
students were thrilled after attending the presentation given by
company officials focusing on Time Management & Quality Control and so
on. Students were taken to Quality Control Department where they saw
the testing of ceramic product for quality. They felt amazed when they
saw that such a large plant functioning without frequent interruption
& the quality maintained was admirable. |

opportunity for the students to understand the complexities faced by
companies in several areas of management. In addition, students

got to
observe work culture in the company and interact with experienced
personnel from the industry. The students were also given scope to
gather knowledge about HRM policy, recruitment, and training process
with maintaining the ISO standards. The visit turned out a great
learning & enriching experience synthesizing classroom learning and
real life situation. |

Textile
Students Visited Johny Textile Mill

The students of the 4th year 2nd
semester and 1st Semester (Spring 2007) of the
Department of Textile Technology visited Johny Textile Mill
along with the faculty members Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Head of the Department and Dr.
Ahmed Jalal Uddin on 30.07.07. Johny Textile Mill is a
renowned dyeing and printing factory which mainly produces
fashionable printed fabrics for the local market |

well as overseas market. The factory has both flat-bed and
rotary screen printing machines. The visit was organized as a part of
the regular mill visit programmes of the Department of Textile
Technology. |
