one of the most important sectors of Bangladesh and Department of Textile
Technology AUST is trying to help this vital sector in many ways. He also
mentioned that AUST is planning for introducing postgraduate courses like
masters and post-graduate diploma in the near future. Apart from this he
has also proposed for an industry university alliance. The industry can
get help from the university in solving their problems and in return
university can generate funds from the industry. This is a situation where
both industry and university will be benefited.

Dept. of Textile Technology organised seminar on WEFT Accumulators |
|
|
|
|
|
Department of Textile Technology
has arranged a technical seminar on weft accumulator on the 23rd
of January 2008. Mr. Stephen Summers Gill, Area Manager IRO, ROJ and Mr.
Ulf Cleasson Chief Technical Person IRO ROJ has spoken on various aspect
of the weft accumulators. It may be mentioned that IRO is the world leader
in the area of manufacturing weft feeders which are used in shuttleless
weaving and knitting machines. Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Head, Dept.
Of Textile Technology, AUST was the president of the seminar. Prof. Dr. Md
Mahbubul Haque of Deportment of Textile Technology has conducted the
seminar. All the teachers and final year students of the department
attended the seminar.
Mr. Stephen Summers Gill has
spoken about their products and the business profile of IRO ROJ in the
global scenario while Mr. Ulf Cleasson has provided the technical details
of the weft accumulators. Both of them have also highlighted the role of
weft accumulators on fabric quality. Prof. Dr. Md Mahbubul Haque has
mentioned that at present shuttleless looms runs at a very high speed and
it is difficult to unwind weft yarn from a cone/cheese at that speed
therefore weft accumulators should be used to ensure smooth production and
quality of fabric. Mr. Hafizur Rahman, Managing Director of Shaj
Corporation and Local agent of IRO has also spoken in the seminar. Finally
Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman concluded the seminar by thanking everybody
for attending. |

|
|
A technical
seminar on weft feeders was held in the China-Bangladesh friendship
conference centre on 22nd January 2008. Weft feeders are used
in weaving and knitting machines and the seminar was organized by Shaj
Corporation, the local agent of IRO ROJ. Prof. Dr. Md Mahbubul Haque was a
guest speaker and delivered a lecture on value addition and product
diversification of our RMG export. Dr Haque has opined that we can
increase our textile export by manufacturing costly items like high
quality sports wear, shirts, suits jackets etc. He has also mentioned that
there is huge scope of diversifying our export in the area of home textile
and terry towel apart from this by introducing synthetic fibres we can
also multiply our export by many folds. He feels that Bangladesh has a
very bright prospect of bamboo fibre. We have huge hill areas in
Chittagong where we can grow bamboo and convert them into textiles. It may
be mentioned that bamboo fibre has lot of advantages from processing point
of view. Apart from this bamboo fibre and corresponding products are
associated with very limited environmental pollution. The seminar was also
addressed by Mr. Stephen Summers Gill, Area Manager `IRO, ROJ and Mr. Ulf
Cleasson Chief Technical Person IRO ROJ. |

However, appropriate technologies should be used to reduce harmful
emissions as much as possible to protect the environment for future
generation.
He thanked the speaker for her excellent and
encouraging presentation. He also advised the students to be innovative
and creative so that they may be able to take part in this noble sector of
