Japanese Students’ Program in AUST |

Mr. Ken-Ichiro Miyama, Associate Professor, Rikkyo university (Tokyo) along with 24 students of Rikkyo, Tama and Senshu university visited Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) on 10 September 2011. The program is a first step towards building collaboration and developing mutual understanding amongst Japanese and Bangladeshi university students. Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, BRAC University and United International University (UIU) are included in the program. |

The team arrived at 11:00 a.m. and were received by the students and taken to the Seminar Hall where the honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. M. M. Shofiullah cordially welcomed Mr. Ken-Ichiro Miyama and the students. Mr. M. Abul Hussain, Advisor of student Welfare (ASW), AUST and Mr. M. Masoodur Rahman Khan, Assistant Advisor of Student Welfare (AASW), AUST, were also present. The Vice-Chancellor thanked Mr. Miyama for selecting AUST in their program and ensured him of every possible cooperation to make this program successful. He specially thanked Mr. Momtaz Uddin Bhuiyan, a naval architect who was a main coordinator of this program. The visiting students presented a slide show depicting their culture and festivals like Himanturi Festival, Canavata festival, Hallowine and children day. On the other hand the students of AUST presented and discussed values, culture, tradition and history of Bangladesh including Language Movement of 1952 and Liberation War of 1971 which received enthusiastic attention of the visiting students. |

| The visiting students were shown different laboratory facilities and various projects of the department of Architecture. They were also joined in a luncheon program where typical Bangladeshi foods were served which they appreciated very much. | ||||||||
