8. MERIT LIST  
 

The Admission Committee of the University will prepare separate final merit lists for all groups of applicants namely GL, FF RA and for the candidates of GCE O & A-level or equivalent. The Final Merit List will be displayed on the Notice Board and the University Website on 8 September 2014 along with instructions concerning the final selection of the candidates and choice of program to be pursued.

 

(a)

Final Merit List for Architecture and Engineering programs 
   
 

For the preparation of final merit list, GPA of SSC & HSC and calculated equivalent GPA of O & A-level will be converted to marks.

Final merit lists will be prepared separately based on the marks obtained in the admission test plus 50% weightage of GPA of SSC plus 50% weightage of GPA of HSC for the groups GL, FF & RA; whereas marks obtained in the admission test plus 50% weightage of equivalent GPA of O level plus 50% weightage of GPA of A level for candidates of English medium.

If more than one applicants get the same marks, then to determine the merit position between them by breaking the ties, one or more of the criteria shown below will be applied in the order they are listed:

Criteria for breaking ties for the group GL, FF & RA: marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English of Admission Test, Grade Point (GP) in HSC subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Bengali), GP in SSC subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, Bengali and Higher Mathematics).

Criteria for breaking ties for candidates of English medium: marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English of Admission Test, Grade Point (GP) in A-level subjects (Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry), GP in O-level subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & English).

   

(b)

Final Merit List for the BBA program:
   
 

Final merit list of the applicants of BBA program will be prepared based on the sum of GPA with additional subjects in SSC and HSC or equivalent Examinations.

If more than one applicants get the same GPA, GP in English of both HSC and SSC examinations will be used to break the ties.

   

All the final merit lists will be published in the university website (www.aust.edu) and displayed in AUST Notice Board. Candidates from the final merit lists will be asked to appear before the Admission Committee in order of candidate’s merit position to give their choices of specific program they want to pursue. THE CANDIDATES MUST BRING THEIR APPLICATION RECEIPT AT THE TIME OF INTERVIEW.  

Common Message from Teletalk: 

All applicants in the published final merit lists, applied through Teletalk SMS & Web based system, will receive a message from Teletalk: “You must appear before the Admission committee along with your Application Receipt to give your choice of program. For details of interview schedule, see website (www.aust.edu)”. 

Additional Message for applicants of Freedom Fighter and Remote & Undeveloped Area Quota: 

   
i)

Each applicant from the final merit list of Freedom Fighter Quota will receive the message from Teletalk: “You must bring your parent’s freedom fighter certificate at the time of appearing before Admission Committee”.

   
ii)

Each applicant from the final merit list of Remote & Undeveloped Area Quota will receive the message from Teletalk: “You must bring the copies of testimonials from your school and/or college and residency certificate at the time of appearing before Admission Committee”.

   

If any candidate fails to appear before the Admission Committee for giving his/her choice of program on the specified date and time, his/her candidature will not be considered again.
